Your Graduation Choice
Below is a summary of options available to undergraduate and postgraduate students who have been awarded or who are in their final year of study (these options are also available for Healthcare students on non-degree programmes of study).
1) July graduation ceremonies: Your certificate is handed to you at a
July ceremony.
2) December graduation ceremonies: Your certificate is handed to you at a December ceremony.
3) In absentia: Your certificate is posted to an address of your choosing and you may not attend a ceremony. The Summer award certificates will be sent after the July 2012 ceremonies and the Winter award certificates will be sent after the December 2012 ceremonies.
Certificates sent to UK addresses are sent via first class post, and certificates sent internationally are sent by standard airmail. There is no charge for this service. However, if you require your certificate to be sent by DHL courier then please purchase this here. Please ensure that you state the delivery option for DHL as your 'original certificate (in absentia)'. Please only purchase DHL delivery once you have registered your graduation choice as in absentia.
Please note, that if you select to attend a ceremony, it will be recorded for DVD production and the Webcast
AM I ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND A CEREMONY OR GRADUATE IN ABSENTIA?
You are eligible to attend a ceremony or receive your certificate by post if you have:
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED YOUR AWARD
It is your responsibility to check with your School or by logging onto the portal that you have successfully completed your award.
If you are due to receive your results in the Summer you can check your award status on the Student Portal from the 2nd July 2012. In the event that you have been unsuccessful, your invitation to attend a degree ceremony will be considered withdrawn.
What if I have lodged an appeal?
If you intend to appeal or you are pursuing an appeal you must not have your degree conferred either at a ceremony or in absentia. This means that you must not attend a ceremony and must ensure that your certificate is not posted to you. If you do your appeal will be void. Please refer to the Students' Handbook for full details of the Appeals Procedure and the action that you need to take.
PAID ALL OUTSTANDING FEES
Any student who is in debt to the University will no longer be eligible to attend their degree ceremony. The deadline to pay outstanding debts to the University is the 15th June 2012. All debts need to have cleared the University account by the 15th June to be eligible to attend the July degree ceremonies. This outstanding debt will also prevent you from receiving any certificate or confirmation of your award. Please note that a certificate can take up to 3 weeks to process from the debt being cleared.
