Graduands are entitled to two guest tickets*. You must apply for these – they are not granted automatically.
You can also apply for up to two extra tickets. Extra tickets are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. They are in very high demand, and there is no guarantee your application will be successful. Please be aware that often there are no extra tickets available at all.
You can express an interest in extra tickets subject to availibility via an online form here from Wednesday 2nd July at 10am until Thursday 3rd July at 5pm. You need to submit the Extra Ticket Form to express your interest. Please note that forms submitted before 10am on Wednesday 2nd July will not be processed.
If there are any more extra tickets after we have fulfilled the extra ticket applications they will be available on the day of the ceremony on a first-come-first-served basis.
*Young children who will be sitting on a guest's lap and not occupying a seat do not need a pre-ordered ticket. However, the child will be asked to wear a sticker to identify them to portering staff in the Great Hall. The student can request this sticker when collecting their tickets.
How to apply
You can apply for your entitlement of two tickets at the same time as registering to attend a degree ceremony.
You can only apply for extra tickets once the original allocations have been made. See Dates and deadlines on our homepage.
To find out if your application for extra tickets was successful, check your Ceremony Summary page.
Tickets must be collected on the day of the ceremony: they will not be posted to you.
Only students are allowed to collect tickets.
Collect your tickets from the ticket desk in the Leeds University Union Building at least 90 minutes before the ceremony start time. You will need to bring some form of photo ID (i.e. student card).
Without exception, there is strictly no admission to the Great Hall without a ticket.
We are aware that most graduands like to bring more than two people to their graduation day.
For those guests without a ticket, we show a live feed of each ceremony in the Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre in the Michael Sadler Building, and in The Terrace Bar and The Old Bar in the Student Union.
You can also watch the live ceremony feed online for free. All webcasts are archived, so you can watch after the event too.
