You are here: home - recruitment and redeployment - if you have a vacancy
The Redeployment Service is the first step in the recruitment process to filling all vacancies across the University.
When you identify a vacancy, you should produce a job description and person specification to describe the role and the associated skills and experience required to fulfil the duties of the role. If the role is a new or significantly revised role your Human Resources Manager will grade the role, and you should then seek funding approval.
You need to forward the job description and person specification, the confirmation of the grade and funding approval to your Central HR Contact, who will liaise with the Redeployment Service. The Service will arrange for your post to be advertised on the Redeployment Portal - a web based jobsite, accessible only by redeployees.
Vacancies are advertised on the Portal for 14 days – or longer by agreement with you – and redeployees are able to apply online for those vacancies via the portal.
Vacancies can be filled in two ways:
1. You can search the redeployment register to identify potential redeployees who may match the requirements of your role. Redeployees can only apply for a role at their current grade; if you identify potential redeployees their details can be sent to you - please contact the Redeployment Service.
2. Redeployees search for a role via the Redeployment Portal. If a redeployee express an interest in your vacancy their details (a skills profile, supporting statement and CV) will be sent to you for consideration.
You should consider all the redeployee’s details, by looking for at least a 70% match to the role. Feedback, via the Redeployment Service, to redeployees who have expressed an interest the vacancy is expected.
More detailed guidance for recruiting managers, and information on the matching process is available. There is also a Redeployment flyer and a process flowchart which you may wish to read.
We hope that all vacancies are filled via Redeployment, but if this is not possible you can then move to external advertising. The details of the role, and the grade and funding confirmation will be sent from the Redeployment Service to our central recruitment team and a member of the team will contact you to discuss advertising requirement. The recruitment team aims to fulfil your request within a few working days of receipt.
