Computing Facilities

All IMC delegates will be given an individual username and password upon arrival at the IMC. This will allow access to the University of Leeds wireless networks which are compatible with laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The username and password will also allow access to desktop computers, photocopying, and printing facilities in the computer clusters.

Terms and Conditions

By completing your registration you will be agreeing to the University of Leeds 'Conditions of Use of Computer Systems for Visitors', as detailed on the information sheet provided with the username and password.

Wireless Internet

An information sheet detailing how to access the University of Leeds wireless networks will be included in your Registration Pack. The wireless signal is available in all session rooms and in IMC social spaces.

The University of Leeds also uses the Eduroam wireless network. Delegates who are registered with Eduroam through their home institution will be able to connect through Eduroam to the University of Leeds network. The University of Leeds Conditions of use of computer systems for visitors apply. Please note that Eduroam is supported by the delegates' home institutions and not by the University of Leeds.

Computer Clusters

There are a number of computer clusters available for IMC delegates, including the Woolhouse Cluster in the Parkinson Building and the 24-hour Textiles Cluster.

Find available computer clusters on the Networking Areas and Social Spaces Map and the Parkinson Building Basement Plan

The desktop computers available in the computer clusters run Windows, Microsoft Office 2013, and Internet Explorer 10. No email client software is loaded on these computers; email may only be accessed through web-based applications.

Please be aware that the computers may not be suitable for some applications or completely compatible with all individual files. Apple Macintosh systems are not catered for or supported on-site, and PCs may not necessarily accept all USB memory sticks. Please be aware that the computer clusters may be busy, and so access to the computers and printing facilities may be limited.

Printing and Photocopying

You will be allocated a certain amount of printing and photocopying credit with your username and password; but for any additional printing and photocopying, you will need to purchase MyPrint credits. We recommend that delegates come to the Congress as prepared as possible, with all printing done beforehand.

IT Support

IT support for laptops, tablets, and smart phones will be available at the Woolhouse Cluster during the day, and in the 24-hour textiles cluster in the evening. If you experience any problems using the computer cluster, please report it to the IMC Information Desk.
