Santander Universities Congress Scholarship Scheme
Santander Universities is contributing to the International Medieval Congress (IMC) at the University of Leeds, UK in 2011 by providing up to £10,000 worth of bursaries. These bursaries are designed to enable participants from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Spain and Portugal to attend the Congress in 2011.
In 2007 the University of Leeds signed an agreement to join Santander Universities, an international scheme which currently provides financial support for 714 universities around the world. Santander Universities, pioneered by Santander, one of the largest financial groups in the world, supports teaching and research, international cooperation, transfer of knowledge and technology and technological innovation.
The bursaries may cover all or parts of the Registration and Programming Fee, accommodation, meals, as well as travel expenses. This scheme operates in addition to the existing, on-going IMC Bursary scheme.
The special focus for the Congress in 2011 is ‘Poor . . . Rich', investigating all aspects of these fields covering all medieval periods. This is not an exclusive theme and the Congress welcomes proposals on all subjects related to the study of the European Middle Ages (c. 300-1500).
