Part-time employment at the University of Leeds

The Institute will do what it can to enable students to pursue their studies on a part-time basis. This option is applicable primarily to part-time applicants from the UK and the EU.
  • For students whose native language is French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian, there may be opportunities for instructing undergraduates in these languages. Such work has enabled students to undertake part-time studies. Initial enquiries and applications for language-teaching work should be directed as early as possible to the Chair of the appropriate Modern Language Department.
  • Leeds University Union Welfare office runs a JobLink service with a database of job opportunities and advice on how to apply.
  • The Institute for Medieval Studies' 'Seeking part-time paid work' guidance gives some useful suggestions and contacts.
  • Part-time work at the University of Leeds may be advertised through the University of Leeds' jobs pages - http://www.leeds.ac.uk/universityjobs

Internships at the Royal Armouries Museum
IMS students with the requisite knowledge and interests may apply to the Royal Armouries Museum, the National Collection of Arms and Armour, for an internship. A limited number of internships is awarded each year. An internship can extend from one month to six months and from one day a week to full-time. Teaching on internships is focused on one-to-one sessions with the Senior Curator of Armour on the interpretation of material culture in order that the student may acquire the analytical abilities to use surviving objects as a primary research tool. An intern will also receive training in the curatorial skills needed for a career in museums. Further information is available from the Director of Studies.
