About this group

Research group leader: Prof Lucia Nagib

The purpose of the SMLC Research Group Film and Visual Culture is to foster interdisciplinary research into the broad disciplines of Film and Screen Studies, World Cinemas, Photography and Visual Arts in general. The group draws on expertise across the School and its various language and culture specialisms. It hosts internal and public seminars and other events to discuss the individual and collective research projects of its members. It aims to stimulate the formation of research networks of national and international reach, interdisciplinary research projects across the School and beyond, and closer interaction with the Postgraduate Research community. The research interests in the Research Group cover a diverse range of subject areas, including national and transnational cinemas, film theory and history, comparative and intermedial audiovisual studies, and photography and the written text, among others.
