Scholarships at Leeds

Have a look at the pages in this section to see what's available. We will continue to add scholarships throughout the year, so please keep checking for updates. When you apply for one scholarship, we will automatically assess you for any others where you have met the eligibility criteria and deadline. If a new pre-entry application scholarship comes out after you have already submitted your application form, note that we will automatically consider you for the new award provided you meet the eligibility criteria and deadline.

Scholarships are awarded by the University. There are two main types at the University of Leeds: some are based on academic excellence only and awarded automatically (the 'Faculty and School Scholarships') and others are based on financial need plus additional criteria and require you to complete an application form before starting your studies at Leeds. As an undergraduate student you could be eligible for one of our scholarships to support your studies. Please note the following important points:

  • Our pre-entry application scholarships are highly competitive and there is a limited pot of funding available for each. Not every applicant will be successful in gaining an award.
  • You can apply to be considered for a scholarship before you receive confirmation of your place to study at the University and deadlines can be as early as February 2012 for students starting in September 2012.
  • Scholarships are assessed entirely independently of the applications process.  If you are provisionally successful in being awarded a pre-entry application scholarship, you must still meet the terms of your offer to take up your place to study at the University of Leeds.
  • We can't consider applications received after the relevant deadline has passed so remember to check the closing dates and apply early.

All our pre-entry application scholarships require you to be a new undergraduate student, without prior experience of higher education and beginning a non-NHS / NHSBSA (Business Services Authority) funded course. Most also only accept applications from prospective full-time students. All of the awards are non-repayable.
