A year in industryMost of our courses offer you the opportunity to do a one year work placement. Placements are available at prestigious organisations such as Goldman Sachs, Opera North, French Connection and Unilever, as well as small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and not-for-profit organisations. You could work within the public, private or voluntary sector either in the UK or overseas.
We can provide you with help and guidance to secure a placement thats right for you. Youll also receive support from us to reflect on and evaluate your placement.
InternshipsYou could undertake short periods of work experience during University holidays or part-time during the academic year to give you valuable work experience alongside your studies. We offer students a range of exclusive internships with employers such as Unilever, as well as opportunities on campus. We can also provide you with support to find and apply for other internship opportunities.
VolunteeringVolunteering is a great way to broaden your experience, meet new people and develop valuable skills. There are over 1,000 opportunities for you to get involved in. You can volunteer in the local community as well as internationally through our students union societies. From supporting young carers in Leeds to teaching in a rural Cambodian school, there will be a volunteering scheme to suit you.
Our Students into Schools scheme supports over 350 students to work in local primary and secondary schools as tutors or mentors.
Our Leeds for Life Foundation grants can help fund you to set up your own project using your energy, passion and commitment to develop your skills while also benefiting others. Projects can be local, or based anywhere in the UK or overseas.
