The University offers a wide range of scholarships for international students. It is important to make enquiries and apply for sources of funding as early as you can. Visit the faculties page and find undergraduate scholarships in the school you are applying to.

Below are our scholarships for international undergraduate students (overseas fee rated), starting a degree in September 2019.


The International Undergraduate Science and Engineering Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£2,000 per year up to a maximum of four years subject to satisfactory progression.

Who is eligible?
Any overseas fee paying applicants who have been offered a place on an undergraduate degree programme.

Eligible courses
All science and engineering undergraduate courses in the following schools and faculties:

  • Biological Sciences
  • Computing
  • Chemistry
  • Chemical and Process Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering
  • Earth and Environment (science-based courses only)
  • Food Science and Nutrition
  • Mathematics
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Physics and Astronomy
  • Psychology

No application necessary — automatic to those meeting the criteria

Terms and conditions
Applicants must be self-funding and not in receipt of other fee scholarships, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto Level 1 and classified as international for tuition fee purposes. You must not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

You must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year if you fail to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if your performance recovers to 60% or over.

Self-funding students who successfully complete the International Foundation Year (IFY) at Leeds will also be eligible for this bursary.


Biological Sciences Dean's Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£5,000 per year subject to satisfactory progression.

Who is eligible?
High achieving applicants who achieve A*AA at A-level (A2) or equivalent.

All undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Biological Sciences

Biological Sciences Head of School Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£1000 towards the cost of tuition

Who is eligible?
International applicants who meet the academic requirements of their offer and are able to demonstrate an interest for their chosen subject i.e. experience or achievements gained from education, sporting, volunteering or professional on the application form.

All undergraduate degree courses within the Faculty of Biological Sciences

School of Psychology Head of School Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£4,000 a year up to a maximum of four years, subject to satisfactory progression.

Who is eligible?
High achieving applicants who receive AAA or above A-level (or equivalent)

Eligible courses
All School of Psychology undergraduate degree courses.

Business School International Excellence Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£3,000 a year towards the cost of fees for the first year of study. This is offered as a tuition deduction only.

Who is eligible?
Self-funding applicants classed as international for fee purposes, who demonstrate sustained academic excellence. For information on the criteria visit the Business School website. There are up to 20 scholarships available.

All Business School undergraduate degree courses

Application deadline
No application is necessary. The scholarship is automatic if you meet the criteria.

Business School International Foundation Year Scholarship

How much is it worth?
£3,000 towards the cost of fees for the first year of study. This is offered as a tuition deduction only.

Who is eligible?
All Leeds International Foundation Year self-funding applicants who apply for level 1 entry to an undergraduate programme at the Leeds University Business School, and are classed as international for fee purposes.

All single honours Business School undergraduate degree courses

£2,500.

GREAT University of Leeds Scholarship: Indonesia 2019

How Much is it worth
£3,500 per year, subject to satisfactory progression

Who is Eligible
Holders of an Indonesian passport who hold an offer at the University of Leeds and complete an application

Eligible Courses
All full time Bachelor Degree Courses at the University of Leeds

Application Deadline
29th March 2019 - Successful applicants informed by the 15th April
