Lunch time in the refectory

Appetite for music? The Refectory serves up award-winning food and the biggest names in music

Since the late 1960s the Refectory has hosted some of the most important acts around, including Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones and Elton John. Perhaps one of the most famous live recordings ever made, The Who Live at Leeds, was recorded in the Refectory.

More recently, it has played host to the likes of:

  • Simian Mobile Disco
  • Erol Alkan
  • The Strokes
  • Basement Jaxx
  • Arctic Monkeys
  • Kaiser Chiefs
  • James Brown
  • Muse (recorded live for MTV)
  • The Streets
  • Franz Ferdinand

All Refectory gigs and most of our club nights are open to non-students as well as students.

When we're not using the Refectory for gigs in the evening, it's the main catering outlet on campus, offering a wide range of hot and cold food. We cater for a range of dietry requirements and our award-winning head chef sources local ingredients as much as possible.

Open 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm Saturday and Sunday you're sure to find something delicious
