Financial supportAs an international student, you'll find a wide range of scholarships on offer

The University of Leeds offers a wide range of scholarships and bursaries to students applying for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A number of students from many different countries are successful in being awarded scholarships and bursaries each year.

For 2014 entry, we are also offering scholarships specifically for NCUK students within the Faculty of Engineering, School of Mathematics and Leeds University Business School.

International Foundation Year scholarships

Leeds University Business School International Foundation Year (IFY) Scholarship

What do students need for the scholarship?

For the IFY Scholarship the minimum requirements are B in the NCUK English for Academic Purposes module (EAP) and AAA in the remaining subjects (all programmes may apply).

Should the number of students eligible for the scholarship exceed the number of scholarships available the Business School will offer the scholarship to the top performing students that hold the strongest academic grades, the highest English language scores and have submitted the best personal statement. The three-year scholarship is subject to students achieving an overall of 60% in each academic year.

What is the scholarship?

There are six scholarships available for September 2014 entry (one scholarship available per academic subject area: Accounting and Finance, Management (and related), Human Resource Management (and related), International Business (and related) with two scholarships available for Economics (and related)). The scholarships are valued at £2,500 a year for three years and will be awarded as a fees deduction.

Faculty of Engineering International Undergraduate Bursary (including NCUK IFY)

What do students need for the bursary?

Students will need to have been offered a place on any of the undergraduate degree courses within the Schools of Civil, Mechanical, Electronic and Electrical, Computing or Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering. This is an automatic bursary and will take the form of a tuition fee reduction. Applicants must be self-funding, new to the University of Leeds, enter onto level one, be classified as ‘international’ for tuition fee purposes and not be in receipt of any other University of Leeds award.

What is the bursary?

Up to £8,000 spread over four years, subject to satisfactory progression. Students must achieve a yearly attainment percentage of 60%. The scholarship will be withheld in a year where a student fails to achieve 60%, but will be reinstated the following year if the student's performance recovers to 60% or over.

Faculty of Biological Sciences NCUK Scholarship

What do students need for the scholarship?

For entry in September 2014, NCUK students taking a programme of study in the Faculty of Biological Sciences will automatically be awarded a scholarship if they achieve their offer and are fully registered by 1 December 2014.

What is the scholarship?

The value of the scholarship is £2000. This award will be made in the first year of study and renewed in years two and three providing high standards of attainment are achieved throughout the programme of study.

School of Mathematics NCUK Scholarships

What do students need for the scholarship?

For entry in September 2014, NCUK students taking mathematics degrees parented by the School of Mathematics will be automatically awarded an Excellence in Mathematics scholarship, provided they make Leeds their firm choice, they achieve their offer, and they obtain either A* in Further Mathematics or A*AA including A* in Mathematics.

What is the scholarship?

For students taking single honours mathematics degrees, including Mathematics (G100), Mathematics with Finance (G1N3) and Actuarial Mathematics (NG31) the value of the scholarship is £3,000, in the first year only.

For students taking joint honours mathematics degrees, the value of the scholarship is £1,500, in the first year only.

Leeds University Business School International Diploma Scholarship

What do students need for the scholarship?

The Int Dip scholarship is available to students studying on the following programmes: Accounting and Finance, International Business (and related), Management (and related), Human Resource Management (and related) and the minimum requirements are B in EAP plus 75% overall.

Should the number of students eligible for the scholarship exceed the number of scholarships available the Business School will offer the scholarship to the top performing students that hold the strongest academic grades, the highest English Language scores and the best personal statement that they have submitted. The two year scholarship is subject to students achieving an overall of 60% in each academic year.

Faculty of Engineering NCUK Bursary (International Diploma)

What do students need for the bursary?

Students will need to have successfully completed the NCUK International Diploma obtaining a pass (with overall average of 65%). Students will also be required to obtain the standard programme entry requirements for the NCUK IFY in the Maths and EAP modules.

What is the bursary?

10% of full overseas tuition fees for each year of course, subject to satisfactory progression.

NCUK awards

NCUK runs an annual awards scheme to recognise its students for their academic achievements and their efforts as they start their new lives in the UK.

Six students from the University of Leeds received prizes at the 2013 awards ceremony in Manchester.
