Our International Summer School offers you the opportunity to experience studying at the University of Leeds and immerse yourself in British culture over a short period. Taking advantage of the rich history, culture and natural beauty of Yorkshire, this exciting 4-week programme combines the world-class tuition you would expect from us, with local knowledge, academic-related field trips, and a wide variety of social activities.

Modules and credits

The Summer School is composed of two 2-week blocks. You simply choose two modules from the following options (one per block):

Block 1

  • The English Country House - A Social History
  • Heretics, Witches & Conspirators: A History of Fear, 1500-1700 [New to 2012]
  • The Olympic Games - Sport in the UK

Block 2

  • British Literature and the Brontës
  • Building Britain, 1700-1840: Industrial 'Revolution' or 'Evolution'? [New to 2012]
  • Popular Music in the North of England

Each module is worth 10 Leeds University credits/3 US credits/5 ECTS.
Transfer of credits is subject to the approval of your home institution.

Scholarship

There are a number of fantastic scholarship opportunities on offer for eligible students, including Santander scholarships, WUN scholarships worth £1,000 and Exchange Partner scholarships worth £1,700. Early application offer

Applicants who apply before 16 March are entitled to a reduced programme fee.

The final application deadline for the Summer School is 16 April 2012.
