Worldwide partnershipsYou'll have the opportunity to work with experts from around the world
Our academics and their cutting-edge research are in high demand throughout the world, and we regularly share our expertise with businesses to help them grow.
As part of a unique partnership between M&S and the University, the Company's archive of more than 60,000 items is permanently relocating to the Michael Marks Building, a purpose-built facility on campus, where it will serve as a 'living resource' for M&S business needs, academics and the general public. The physical relocation is just one aspect of our partnership with M&S alongside a number of other initiatives.

Water where we need it
Parts of the world suffer drought while elsewhere floods present a serious hazard to people. The N8 water group brings together an unprecedented network of expertise to address long-term challenges and opportunities facing the water environment.
Established in 2004 N8 is a partnership between eight major research universities in the north of England - Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and York.

We have a strong record in commercialising our research and have received a host of prestigious prizes. Earlier this year in the first Climate Week Awards, Xeros - designed by a University spinout company - was named as the 'Best Technological Breakthrough' for the unique way that it cleans clothes by using hardly any water.
A number of successful University spin-out companies began as research projects, and now offer services ranging from 3D modelling to ante-natal screening.
The 'Dare' collaboration between the University and Opera North fuses the artistic with the academic, combining the very best of both organisations to inspire and stimulate new ways of thinking and working. The partnership has triggered new research, informed productions and created opportunities for students, staff and audiences. Read more
