Research degrees We are one of the largest centres for research training in the UK
A research degree programme will provide you with training in relevant transferable and research skills which will support you in gaining expertise in a specialist area. So come to Leeds, build on your existing knowledge, acquire new skills and make an original contribution through supervised research.
Take a look at our postgraduate research brochure below and be inspired by the experiences of some of our current and recent postgraduates.
We are one of the largest centres for research training in the UK, offering a range of research degrees - from Masters to PhDs (full-time or split-site) as well as Professional Doctorates.
As one of our postgraduate research students, you will be assigned at least one supervisor who will work closely with you. Supervisors draw on their own special experience to guide your work, give encouragement and advise you as you conduct your research and then prepare your written thesis.
The University offers a wide range of training and development opportunities for postgraduate researchers. Read more about training and development for postgraduate researchers
Doctoral Training Centres offer funded PhD opportunities alongside intensive researcher and professional skills training for UK and EU candidates (international candidates are advised to contact the relevant department for further information on their eligibility). Read more about DTCs
If you're not sure whether you want to take a research degree or a taught course, look at what's available in your subject area and contact the admissions tutors for more information.
