Help is available to spread the cost of your studies. As a UK student starting an undergraduate degree course with us in 2011, your financial support package may include:

  • a maintenance grant (or alternative special support grant)
  • student loans
  • the Access to Learning Fund

Remember that you could get financial help from the University too.

Grants and loans

Show me more about:

How do I apply for my student loans and grants?

You can apply for grants and loans at the same time as you make your UCAS application. (However, the deadline for ensuring that you will receive your payment by the time you start at university in September has now passed).

Please remember to provide all the required evidence at the outset, as this helps speed up your application.

You will have access to your own account after you have applied and can even use the online calculator to help you work out how much you can get.

The Access to Learning Fund

Access to Learning is a discretionary fund to help students in financial difficulty. It comes from the government, but is administered within each individual university. Students are assessed on their individual needs and any help you get from the fund is usually non-repayable.

You can apply at any time from the date you register up to the last day of your course. For further information visit: www.leeds.ac.uk/financialaid/alf
