Stuart Petch

Stuart Petch, Student Experience Assistant

My role

I am a member of the front-desk Welcome Team in the Lifelong Learning Centre, welcoming visitors and responding to enquiries. I also provide administrative assistance to a wide range of the Lifelong Learning Centre team. You will see me staffing events, booking appointments for you, responding to emails and phone calls to the Centre, and sharing information in your online learning and Lifelong Learning Centre social media channels.

I have worked at the University on and off for almost 20 years, beginning my career here as an academic books subject section specialist and bookseller in the university’s independent campus bookshop in the Student Union.

I have a very good knowledge of the campus having collaborated with many departments here throughout my career. I am also experienced in administrating taught courses at Leeds, as I have supported both postgraduate and undergraduate courses for several years, and I administrated an international distance learning course during this time.

I have a strong interest in all things cultural and artistic and have a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature which I achieved as a mature student. I am an artistic creative photographer and have received awards for my work in recent years.

I am also trained in introductory counselling skills.

Prior to joining the Lifelong Learning Centre I volunteered for conservation charities and in nature tourism, and worked as a self-employed researcher and administration assistant for Yorkshire tourism businesses. I enjoy promoting the good work people in the region are doing to benefit the lives of others, and this continues in my role supporting learners and staff and our activities in the Lifelong Learning Centre.
