LIGHT Research Grants

Researchers in LIGHT apply to a range of funding bodies including various medical research councils (MRC, BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC), the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), Wellcome Trust, and many others.

We are extremely proud to say that our research grant income has been well over £5m each year for the past three years, bringing in £5.4m in 2008/09, £5.2m in 2009/10, and £5.9m in the last academic year.

On average over those three years, 51% of our grant income has come from UK charities, with the rest being been spread over many sources in the following way:

19% = UK Government/Health
11% = Research Councils
11% = EU Framework Funding and other EU collaborators
5% = Other overseas contributors
3% = Industry
