Biostatistics
The Division of Biostatistics is a centre of excellence in research and teaching, drawing on complementary expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology and data management. Research focuses on the application of existing, and the development of novel biostatistics to health and medicine. These include the elucidation of disease mechanisms, understanding of disease aetiology, through to public health measures and health care delivery.
Headed by Dr Graham Law, our Division is a key part of the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, a collaborative network of research groups with mutual interest and expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics and laboratory science.
Staff within this Division jointly organise and deliver medical undergraduate teaching in scientific research, statistics, epidemiology and public health. We also run an MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and a range of CPD courses named 'Statistical Thinking'. We contribute to many other courses throughout the Faculty of Medicine and Health, and have a number of research postgraduate students supported by external fellowships and awards.
