Cardiovascular and Diabetes

Research in the labs

The Division of Cardiovascular and Diabetes Research is a clinical science group with interests in the molecular mechanisms linking cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Led by Professor Mark Kearney, our Division has major research interests in the regulation of endothelial cell nitric oxide, diurnal regulation and cardiovascular risk, mechanisms in thrombosis and ex-vivo studies of adipocyte function.

Extensive research facilities exist within our Division which provide the ability to study in-vivo gene modified models, gene and protein structure function and proteomics.

In addition, we hold a wide range of large clinical datasets, including case control studies of stroke, coronary artery and peripheral vascular disease, myocardial infarction and heart failure in both Caucasian and Asian populations.

Members of our Division have published extensively in international peer review journals including the Lancet, Diabetes, Circulation, Blood and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
