Cutting edge research-led teaching
LIGHT follows the principle that the transfer of new knowledge to students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level is a core aim of a cutting edge research Institute.  Our mission is to improve the prevention strategies in populations and improve treatment and disease management in the clinic by educating young researchers in these fields.

Taught Postgraduate
We host an exciting portfolio of MSc programmes, with new programmes being developed all the time.  Covering a wide range of topics, all our programmes utilise our internationally-recognised researchers in order to introduce students to cutting edge investigative techniques.

How to Apply

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The Division of Biostatistics runs a series of short courses called 'Statistical Thinking'. These courses were designed to meet the needs of non-statisticians working in health, and are precisely targeted so that delegates become effective users and/or consumers of statistics – without the expectation of becoming a statistician.

Undergraduate
The Leeds University School of Medicine, voted one of the top three medical schools in the country by the 2011 National Student Survey, trains future doctors on the MBChB programme.  LIGHT makes a significant contribution to this course, and in addition, LIGHT hosts and Intercalated BSc programme that Medical students (internal and external to Leeds) can opt in to for one year.
