The Academic Unit of Elderly Care and Rehabilitation has been actively conducting research studies with the aim to improve the quality of life for the elderly and stroke survivors as well as their carers.
Current projects in the unit consist of both single-centre and multi-centred research studies. Excellent relation with external collaborators across the nation has been established to implement and elevate efficacy of multi-regional research, this includes large scale cluster randomised controlled trials. The Academic Unit of Elderly Care and Rehabilitation is proud to be the host of two of the world’s largest stroke rehabilitation trials to date - Training Caregivers After Stroke (TRACS) (n=930) and the LoTS care (longer term stroke care) system of care trial (n=800).
The TRACS website can be found here.
The LoTS care website can be found here.
We are continuously seeking for new research innovations within the elderly care and stroke sector. Systematic reviews have been taking place on a frequent basis.
