Bradford and Airedale Teaching PCT - Supporting Undergraduate Medical Education
The Teaching PCT (TPCT) in Bradford and Airedale has worked closely with the AUPC over the last five years to develop medical student placements and help expand the range of teaching in primary care. Bradford and Airedale practices have provided the majority of new teaching opportunities for Leeds students through 3rd and 5th year teaching firms, new Student Selected Components in all years and new innovative communication skills teaching. This has been made possible through the hard work of a small team of GPs and administrative support from the TPCT, and from the close ties developed with the Bradford Hospitals Trust and Care Trust. In addition the TPCT staff have supported the successful development of the BSc clinical sciences programmes via Bradford University, which provides a route into Leeds medical school designed to widen access to the course beyond traditional A level entrants.

Clinical Educators
The team of 8 clinical educators are health care professionals with teaching qualifications and extra training to allow them to teach clinical method and clinical skills to medical students in all years. The clinical educators are jointly employed by the TPCT and BTHT, and spend time both in practices and with primary care students in the skills lab - supporting and enhancing the teaching provided by GP tutors.
