Current and Previous Roles
David graduated from Oxford in 1976, and London in 1979. He trained as a lecturer at St. George's Hospital Medical School and then worked as a Senior Lecturer at the London Hospital Medical College before he was appointed to the Foundation Chair in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in Leeds in 1994.
He holds an honorary consultant child & adolescent psychiatry post with the local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, part of NHS Leeds Community Healthcare
He was Director of Learning & Teaching in the School of Medicine with responsibility for all undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching activity from 1999 - 2006. In 2008 he was appointed Dean of Medicine at the school.
Current Research Interests
The evaluation of child and adolescent mental health service. Specifically, investigations into the effectiveness of psychological treatments for common and expensive (for the adolescent, their family and government services) problems.
Adaptation of children and their families to chronic illness and disability.
