NORMAL OPENING TIMES
Our building is normally open to the public: Monday, Tuesday & Friday 07:00 to 18:00, Wednesday & Thursday 08:30 to 18:00 (on Monday Tuesday and Friday we offer booked appointments with a doctor or nurse from 07:10)
YOUR CHOICE
We aim to enable you to see a doctor/nurse on the day that you need to. You can do this by using our appointment surgeries which allow you to choose who you see at a convenient time, or urgent assessment clinic for medical problems that cannot wait until a routine appointment is available
When you book your appointment the Receptionist will usually ask you to tell her the reason for your consultation. This is so she can make sure you see the most appropriate person first. You do not have to tell her the reason if you prefer not to
SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR OR NURSE?
Our nurses should be your first point of contact for all contraception and sexual health needs. Additionally it may help you to know that our Practice Nurses are
also available by appointment to provide:
- all contraception needs; advice, contraceptive

URGENT ASSESSMENT CLINIC
Monday to Friday 08:30 to 10:00
- Telephone Reception on 0113 295 4488 to see whether your medical problem is suitable for the urgent assessment clinic
- Urgent assessment clinic is for a single urgent problem that needs dealing with today
- Patients attending with non-urgent problems will be asked to book a routine appointment
- When you are seen your urgent problem will be assessed by a nurse or doctor, who will decide the best solution for you; this may be treatment now, or a suitable appointment later
- Please note that as urgent assessment clinic is not a booked appointment surgery, waiting times can be long
Urgent Assessment Clinic was introduced in August 2011. Urgent Surgery workload was unpredictable, and did not allow us to be responsive on busy days, so before making any changes we conducted a survey about patient's use of appointments and urgent surgery. We also asked opinion about providing quicker access to doctors for urgent medical problems, and using nurses to assess patient's problems. The survey demonstrated a need for a better way of dealing with urgent problems, and that generally patients were happy to be assessed by nurses for urgent medical problems. Based on this we went on to replace Urgent Surgery with the Urgent Assessment Clinic
