Dentists

NHS 24hr Emergency Dentist - telephone 111 (free from landlines and mobiles) (be aware may have to travel up to 50 miles for treatment)

NHS Leeds Dental Advice Line: 0800 298 5787 (Mon-Fri 9am to 5pm)

As in many other parts of the UK there is a general shortage of NHS dentists in Leeds.  If you already have a dentist you are happy with, rarely have problems and would be able to get to your dentist when necessary, it would be wise not to change 

Routine check ups
Not many dentists are accepting NHS patients, those that are, indicate a 5 to 6 week waiting list before your registration can be accepted, and in some cases a two week wait for emergency treatment. Once registered your dentist will invite you to attend for a check-up once a year, if you do not attend when invited, you may find you are removed from their list

Emergency dentist

  • NHS 24hr Emergency Dentist - telephone 111 (free from landlines and mobiles)
  • If in pain in daytime can go to emergency sessions at Burmantofts or Harehills Lane, where they can expect to be seen within 24 hours (Leeds Dental Advice Line: 0800 298 5787 Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00)
  • Limited NHS emergency dental treatment is available at Leeds Primecare Access Centre, Lexicon House, Wilmington Grove (off Meanwood Road) LS7 2BQ.  Telephone Local Care Direct on 0845 605 9999 to arrange an appointment
  • Private Emergency Dental Service, operates 7 days per week, can do extractions and provide prescriptions for pain relief and antibiotics. Aesthetique Dental Care, 58 Merrion Centre (upper balcony), Leeds LS2 8NG, telephone 0113 245 8066 for appointments and information about costs
