FLASH Clinic at the University of Leeds

The FLASH (Focused Learning And Self Help) clinic at The University of Leeds is a service developed by NHS Leeds in collaboration with the Student Counselling Centre and is run by NHS staff

FLASH clinics are based on guided self help, which enables you to learn new skills and tools for coping with common mental health problems such as:

• Anxiety
• Stress
• Depression and low mood
• Social anxiety
• Low self esteem
• Sleep problems
• Self harm

It is open to all students of The University of Leeds; you do no’t need to be referred by another health professional (for example: your doctor

DROP IN
We have a large collection of self help materials that you can use or take away
The materials cover common mental health problems and how to cope with them

1-2-1 CLINIC
You can access 1-2-1 guided self help with a trained staff member. The self help sessions are usually 30 minutes in length and you can receive up to 6. Staff will collaborate with you to develop practical techniques that will allow you to positively change your thinking, feelings and behaviours. You will be supported whilst practicing these new tools outside of the self help session. All self help sessions are strictly confidential except in exceptional circumstances, which would be discussed with you in your initial session

During the clinic, staff will be available for advice and guidance on using the materials and can also direct you towards University services or other services in the Leeds area

LOCATION AND CONTACT DETAILS
The FLASH clinic is based at the Student Counselling Centre on Wednesday afternoons. Pre-booked appointments are between 2pm and 5pm. To book an appointment students need to contact Sarah or James on 0113 305 9850
