Headache Headaches can be a common problem, but there is often a simple underlying cause. Tiredness, stress, bad posture, poor eyesight, excessive caffeine alcohol or tobacco intake, and even depression can be causes of headaches Rather than relying on paracetamol for pain relief, it is better to identify the cause and eliminate or reduce it when possible. If you make a note of what you were doing in the couple of hours before you get a headache, you may find a pattern shows up for a likely cause (headache diary) If you do not already, then get some regular exercise. This is proven to reduce the the frequency of headaches, and is thought to work by easing stress and tension Migraine is essentially a severe headache accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and visual disturbances. We have a separate advice page on Migraine If you take painkillers on most days for headaches, or if you have frequent headaches, you need to make an appointment to see a doctor as this requires further investigation and may indicate a more serious problem. It will be helpful if you have kept a headache diary Source: LSMP
