Contraceptive Comparison Study

We are looking for female medical students who are within the first three years of their degree, who are interested in using a LARC (Long Acting Reversible Contraceptive), to be involved in a global research study. You will be paid for your participation

If you are interested, can you meet the following criteria?

Are you:

A currently registered female patient at Leeds Student Medical Practice?

18 - 35 years old?

In need of contraception and not been on depo provera (contraceptive injection) in the past 10 months?

Fit and well (with no history of focal migraine)?

Willing and able to attend scheduled visits in Leeds for the three-year duration of the trial?

Well-motivated, willing and able to fill in a study diary?

Willing to have cervical smear, internal examination and breast examination?

Willing to accept either an implant (SDI) or a hormone coil (IUCD) and to accept that you would have no choice in which method as this is a randomised study?

Aware that payment is attached to every visit (£50 payment per visit – five visits in total)?

If you meet these criteria and would like to register your interest in taking part, please contact our Study Co-ordinator Caz Wigan on 0113 295 4488 between 15:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday, and mention to Reception that you are calling about the 'contraceptive comparison study'

Due to the study size we will only be able to involve a limited number of patients. There are also a number of exclusion criteria not mentioned here, which might mean we will not be able to include you. In these cases we thank you very much for your interest, time and patience, and hope that we can involve you in a future study
