Verrucae and wart treatment

Warts and verrucae (flat warts on the feet) are caused by viruses that infect the skin. They are common and affect about 10% of the population at any one time. They can be a nuisance and unsightly but they do not cause any long term harm
Verruca

About 70% of verrucae and warts will resolve within 2 years without treatment, without causing any discomfort, and without leaving a scar. This is achieved by the body's own immune system

If you prefer to treat them, the recommended treatment is 'Verrugon' ointment, which you can buy from a pharmacy, without a prescription. It must be applied every night. You must follow the instructions with the ointment, which are basically; to rub down the dead skin with an emery board, apply the ointment, cover with a plaster, and repeat this process every day until there is no wart/verrucae remaining. This may take up to 3 months

If you have a condition or are receiving medication which reduces your immunity, consult your doctor before starting treatment
