The Faculty of Medicine and Health International Committee
The Faculty of Medicine and Health International Committee was established in 2005 in response to the T1 theme of the university strategy, ‘Enhance our International Performance and Standing’. The purpose of the committee is to act as a mechanism for mainstreaming international issues in the faculty.
The committee has developed an International Strategy which covers the key areas of:
- International learning and teaching
- Research and knowledge transfer
- International staffing
- Marketing
- Developing an international culture within the faculty
The committee reports to the Faculty Executive Committee and has the following terms of reference:
- To promote the adoption and implementation of the Faculty International Strategy at both the faculty and institute/school levels
- To collect information on the international activities and resources of the faculty
- To advise the faculty committees and in particular the Faculty Executive, the Faculty Research and the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committees on international issues related to the faculty
- To liaise with the university International Office on strategic issues
Membership
- Each institute and school in the faculty nominates one member to the Committee
- Student members are appointed from amongst the Faculty’s undergraduate, taught postgraduate and PhD student communities.
- The Committee co-opts additional members on the basis of particular expertise.
- The Chair will be appointed by the Faculty Executive Committee. The current chair is Professor Deborah Murdoch-Eaton, Professor of Medical Education, MEU, Leeds Institute of Medical Education.
