The Faculty Graduate School handles all administrative matters concerning postgraduate research students in the Faculty, from enquiries, applications and admissions to support of students already undertaking their degree.
The Faculty hosts the Biomedical and Health Research Centre (BHRC) - a strategic partnership between the four science Faculties of the University of Leeds and the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and Collaborative Research Centres in Epidemiology and Biostats, Cardiovascular Disease, Musculoskelatal Disease and Obesity, Nutrition and Heath.
The Leeds Dental Institute offers access to a consortium of clinical and basic science researchers with international reputations in their respective fields supported by excellent facilities, providing a complementary synthesis of interdisciplinary expertise and a holistic approach to world-class research.
The School of Healthcare delivers a portfolio of quality health and social care education and training driven by world class research and Enterprise & Knowledge Transfer (EKT) activities, creating a continuously developing community of healthcare practice. The School is also home of RDInfo providing support for health and social science researchers.
The School of Medicine at the University of Leeds is a major international centre for research and education. Research activity spans the entire translational pathway from basic discovery science defining the molecules involved in human disease through experimental medicine to applied health research including clinical trials and implementation research. The School of Medicine comprises four constituent Medical Institutes:
- The Leeds Institute of Genetics, Health & Therapeutics (LIGHT) focuses on basic and applied research that will help elucidate the aetiology and pathogenesis of common chronic diseases and contribute to alleviating morbidity and mortality.
- The Leeds Institute of Health Sciences (LIHS) carries out applied health research based upon collaborations that allow interdisciplinary work that encompasses health technology assessment, pragmatic clinical trials, healthcare policy evaluation, meta-analyses, systematic reviews and other methodological work.
- The Leeds Institute of Medical Education (LIME) provides expertise on learning and teaching to the Leeds Medical School and undertakes educational development and research.
- The Leeds Institute of Molecular Medicine (LIMM) is dedicated to defining the molecules involved in human diseases and using this knowledge to develop novel therapies and new drugs.
The Institute of Psychological Sciences is committed to producing psychological research of a high quality addressing cutting edge issues in relation to fundamental questions about the determinants of human behaviour.
