Research

  • The FASTER group has a large portfolio of research encompassing studies of disease pathways, development of treatments and clinical trials. The foot and ankle studies programme articulates with the broader programme of the Leeds Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit (LMBRU) and has been developed to capitalise on the facilities and expertise of the LMBRU. Most studies use more than one technology to measure outcome and so the whole programme covers motion analysis, magnetic resonance imaging, high resolution ultrasound, clinical measures and patient reported outcomes. Current projects and recent grants obtained are detailed below.

The group is active in dissemination activities and has a strong publication record as well as contributing to all of the major conferences in rheumatology and podiatry. In addition to producing the seminal text; The foot and ankle in rheumatoid arthritis, the team has contributed to all of the major texts in podiatry and many in rheumatology.
