The academic requirements for September 2011 entry are found below. Note that alongside these criteria, applicants must take the UK Clinical Aptitude Test. If you cannot find the qualifications you are studying below, a comprehensive list of examinations acceptable for consideration for entry to the MBChB course is available in the acceptable qualifications list (pdf) which also covers exam systems outside the UK.

GSCE Subjects
A reasonable range of good grades including at least 6 grade Bs including English and Maths, and either Dual Science or Chemistry and Biology.
Extenuating circumstances will be taken into account and this should be incorporated into the referee’s statement. This would include information on attending a school or college with less than 45% A* - C grades at GCSE. Further supporting information regarding extenuating circumstances (quoting the applicant’s UCAS number) should be sent directly to the Admissions Office, School of Medicine.
School Leavers
A2s
At least AAA, including Chemistry at grade A.
Any subject studied will be accepted except Critical Thinking and General Studies. Those taking a 4th A2 subject will not be at an advantage over those taking three.

Two subjects from Biology, Maths and Physics must also be offered at either Higher or Standard Level if not offered at GCSE. If English not offered at GCSE, this must be offered with a mark of at least 5 at Standard level |

Degrees |
A pass at 2i or higher in a science or medically related subject is acceptable in place of A2 examinations. For applicants not offering chemistry grade B at A2, evidence must be provided that they have studied it to this level as part of their degree course. Those graduates offering a non-science degree will need relevant A levels as detailed above or an approved access to medicine course. Entry to the 3rd year of the course, when places are available, may be possible for dentists, who meet the following criteria:

Graduates who have undertaken Access to Medicine courses would be expected to offer at least a 2i class of degree unless there are documented extenuating circumstances. |
A partly completed degree course is not acceptable in lieu of any of the above.
Foundation courses

In addition to the students admitted each year via UCAS, up to twenty further students are expected to be admitted via the University of Bradford course; Foundation in Clinical Sciences, and twenty more from the BSc Clinical Sciences course.
