The Centre for Research in Professional Education...
- Promotes research and study into professional education
- Encourages collaborative research work and seeks sponsorship from outside the university
- Links with other institutions and individuals outwith the university with the aim of promoting research and collaborative activity
Professional Education crosses many faculty boundaries although most educational research activity is discipline specific. The rationale for establishing the Centre is that raising awareness of the different paradigms and current activities will foster an interdisciplinary approach to common problems.
The focus of initial activities is to organise a programme of workshops, discussions and expert seminars. It is intended that as the Centre develops it will disseminate research produced by its academics through the publication of working papers and the organisation of conferences.
Membership of the Centre is open to members of the university staff who have an interest in Professional Education. Membership is also open to individuals and organisations outwith the university who have an interest in Professional Education. To date the Centre has over 60 members from the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Healthcare, Education, Continuing Education, Biomedical Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Psychology, Business and the Yorkshire Postgraduate Deanery, NHS and University of Bradford.
