Research

Members of the MEU are involved in conducting and evaluating original enquiry and research; and developing and applying innovation and scholarship to inform the continued improvement of medical education.  The work of the MEU has influenced medical education research, policy and practice locally, nationally and internationally.  The MEU works with a wide range of academic and non academic stakeholders; these include different academic communities, the medical profession, the public, regulators and policy makers.

MEU members have particular research interests and strengths in assessment, workplace learning, interprofessional education and genderPhD students are very much part of the unit’s research community, working on specific projects and involved in events run by the Centre for Research in Professional Education, such as the Medical Education Research Development Conference, the Professional Lifelong Learning Conference, and the new and early career researchers group.  If you are interested in undertaking postgraduate research please contact Sue Kilminster.

MEU staff provide medical education consultancy services locally, nationally and internationally.  We work collaboratively with partners to identify their specific local requirements and jointly develop and implement a tailor –made approach appropriate for the local context.  If you are interested in finding out more about the unit’s consultancy service, please contact Professor Deborah Murdoch Eaton.
