Getting to Leeds

Rail

- inter-city main line connections (London in about two hours 20 minutes). The station is one mile from the main meeting venue, about 2 miles from the accommodation in Devonshire Hall. Rail travellers coming from or via London are advised to check on travel costs – it may prove to be more economical to travel on Sunday, avoiding both peak hour travel and an early start on the Monday morning.

Transfers from Leeds City Railway station may be made by taxi or bus. Buses leave from stand G in Infirmary Street (shown on the leaflet map, across City Square from the station) - numbers 1, 93 and 95.

Air

- Leeds-Bradford Airport has shuttle services to UK and European destinations and is seven miles from the campus. Airport taxis cost £10-15 for a journey to the University, or there is a bus service to Leeds City centre approximately every 2 hours and costing approx. £1.50.

- Manchester International Airport is an hour along the M62 motorway, 1.5 hours by train.

Road

- well served by a motorway system - M62, M1, A1.

Car travellers should note that parking is available at Devonshire Hall, but not at the Rhodes Lecture Theatre meeting venue. You are advised to leave your car at Devonshire Hall and walk or take the bus to the lecture theatre.

From the M62 take junction 27 onto the M621 then onto the A58M (the Inner Ring Road), turn onto the A660 to Skipton (just after a quarter mile tunnel) and continue straight on the A660 (Woodhouse Lane) to Devonshire Hall as below. The large white main university building, with a tower and wide steps (Parkinson Building) is on your left on Woodhouse Lane.

From the A1 (North) take the A64, join the A58M (the Inner Ring Road) then follow signs for Skipton A660. Continue straight on the A660 (Woodhouse Lane) to Devonshire Hall as below. The large white main university building, with a tower and wide steps (Parkinson Building) is on your left on Woodhouse Lane.

From the M1 take junction 47 signed “city centre”, and follow the road around, past the Hilton Hotel on the left, under the rail viaducts and, in the right lane, up to traffic lights beside the Queen’s Hotel. Turn left, keeping in the right hand lane, then bear right at the next lights following signs for Skipton A660 and “Loop Traffic” for about one mile, when a left turn at traffic lights will bring you onto the A660 (Woodhouse Lane). The large white main university building, with a tower and wide steps (Parkinson Building) is on your left.

for Devonshire Hall pass the University (you’ll pass the School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, where the Rhodes Lecture Theatre is situated) and continue to the traffic lights at the end of Woodhouse Moor (by the Hyde Park pub). 200 yards after the lights, turn right into Cumberland Road (there is a converted chapel in front of you as you turn) and Devonshire Hall is 200 yards on the left.
