Rapid advances in computing power and software development have led to numerous innovations in multimedia products for science, commerce, entertainment and the performing arts. The BA/BSc in Music Multimedia and Electronics (MME) provides cutting edge interdisciplinary study in the music technology, multimedia software and electronic hardware areas. It is designed to equip students with skills and knowledge which will be useful in a wide range of careers including digital media, consumer electronics, broadcasting and studio engineering, production and professional music.

This is an intellectually and creatively challenging programme that provides academic rigour and technical insight. It will equip you for the challenges of a competitive and fast changing society.

As well as the suite of electronic and recording studios in the School of Music’s new building, this programme makes full use of a new Multimedia Laboratory in the School, and a specially designed Electronics laboratory in the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

Music, Multimedia and Electronics includes the digital electronics, communications and microprocessor modules which are part of the School of Electronic and Engineering's single honours degree programmes, as well as music technology modules in the School of Music. This core is augmented by modules covering digital media acquisition, audio and image processing, and multimedia techniques and applications, which draw on expertise from both departments and bring together the electronic engineering and music strands.

Entry requirements

BA and BSc (Hons) Music, Multimedia and Electronics
UCAS Code: WG34 (BA) and WGH4 (BSc)

The entry requirements for the programme include Mathematics (with a minimum of Grade B at AS level), with either A level Music or Music Technology, or demonstration of appropriate skills and experience in music through other means.
