Objectives
To engage with a wide variety of practical and theoretical concerns in the production, distribution and criticism of art work. To have developed critical and analytic skills and to have integrated to use skills in the production of works of art; to be encouraged to experiment practically and reflect critically on that practice; to engage in the knowing integration of the critical and historical reflection on art with the production of art; to produce a body of work for exhibition/appraisal/display at the completion of semester together with related documentation in relevant media.
Syllabus
Students follow 3.5 days in the studios engaged in the production of a body of work and follow core courses in art history/theory. Tutors give specific tuition and monitor progress in group criticism sessions as well as in individual tutorials; practical work can engage in a broad range of media and techniques including painting, drawing, photography, print, video, computing, installation, performance, etc. Students are encouraged to produce their own projects, in consultation with studio staff and supplemented by a programme of visiting speakers, artists and fine art professionals together with film/video screenings where appropriate.

Tutorials: 13 x 2 hours ; Practical technical classes: 12 x 1 hour practical/Classes
Form of assessment
Continuous assessment throughout module (50%). Summative assessment of practical work at the end of the module for progression (50%).
