Social History of Art: Dissertation
40 credits

Taught Semester 2,

Pre-requisites Four 20-credit MA modules, including ARTF5060 and ARTF5070

Co-requisites None

Objectives
To develop the ability to identify topics meriting research and the appropriate theories and methods of researching and writing them; to develop scholarly judgement and creative ability in locating or making and using the archive; to develop the ability to undertake independent research under supervision.

Syllabus
Subject of dissertation to be agreed with the Director of Studies.

Form of teaching
Dissertation workshops and individual supervision; presentation of dissertation project at an MA symposium held at the end of semester 2 and feedback from this presentation.

Form of assessment
A dissertation of 12000 words maximum to be submitted by 1 September.
