Year running 2002/03

Pre-requisites Completion of appropriate compulsory and optional modules relating to the topic area.

Co-requisites None.

Objectives
To develop and apply design and/or research skills to a specialist topic related to the student's employment in the transport sector.

Syllabus
Topics may be chosen from a list provided by staff or may be submitted by the student or their employer for approval by staff. The topic will normally relate to a project being done by the student in connection with their employment. Topics will be based on a practical environment but will be conducted with academic rigour.

Form of teaching
Student's own research. Guidance provided by the student's employer/supervision provided by University staff. Students will present their work at approximately six monthly intervals to highlight progress being made.

Form of assessment
Written dissertation (maximum 15,000 words) 90%, oral examination 10%.
