Objectives
To give students the opportunity to pursue in greater depth than in options a topic of their own choice, to develop basic research skills and to put into practice and test the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the module.
Syllabus
In semester 2 of Level 2 a proposal to be submitted to show a critical grasp of the bibliographic and histriographic problems of the intended subject. After approval by the Head of Department and module team this will lead to production, under supervision, of an essay of 10000-12000 words, divided into chapters including introduction and conclusion and footnotes and bibliography.
Form of teaching
Students will be required to submit a draft proposal, will be allotted a tutor with whom they will discuss their work at regular intervals and to whom a final draft will be submitted.
Form of assessment
1 x 12000 word dissertation. Completed work to be submitted on the 22nd April.
