BMus is an exciting four-year degree specialising in performance, with the third year spent in a conservatory environment abroad. Current destinations include the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic (EU subsidies are currently available for study in Europe). You can specialise in western art music or popular and world musics pathways, following academic studies along with colleagues on our other courses. The Year Abroad is an invaluable way to improve your CV, your confidence, your career prospects and your language skills. ABRSM Grade 8 distinction or equivalent in your principal instrumental/vocal study is required at the time of application.

Admission Requirements
ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction or equivalent at the time of application. In addition to this you will also be required to achieve one of the following (or equivalent):
- A level grades ABB, including A in Music (other A levels can include General Studies, but not Practical Music)
- Scottish Highers: AAABB (A in Music)
- BTECs: a minimum of Distinction, Distinction, Merit in a music specialism.
