All fine as weather smiles on graduating Class of 2010Around 300 students and their guests gathered for the School of Music's annual celebration as more than 100 undergraduates were confirmed as graduates in a ceremony in Leeds University’s splendid Great Hall on 20 July, 2010.
A fine day saw the Great Hall filled by parents, families and friends to see the awards of degrees of BA in Music, BA in Popular and World Musics and BMus in Music confirmed officially.
Afterwards, photographs on the steps of Clothworkers’ Centenary Concert Hall were taken before everyone shared a celebratory glass in the department itself.
Again, we invited the new graduates to say something on film about their experiences at Leeds and, as usual, students from all our courses offered their thoughts on the city, the university and the School of Music itself.
You can hear what the Class of 2010 have made of their time at the Web-Book homepage here – and there are examples of earlier students’ memories from 2008 and 2009, too.

Ilan is a British film composer who has established himself as an exciting young talent in the world of film music. Born in London into a musical family, Ilan grew up playing violin and later took up playing guitar in bands. He studied Music and English literature at Leeds University, during which time he also worked with film composer Ed Shearmur learning first-hand the technique of film composition. After graduating, he went on to work with other film composers such as Michael Kamen and Hans Zimmer. At this time Ilan began scoring his own projects, and his talent for creating cinematic music on a limited budget soon gained him recognition within the film industry.
