Mrs Diane Sapiro
You Hum It, I'll Play It! An investigation into the psychological attributes that underlie the ability to play the piano by ear.
Diane received a Graduate Diploma in Music from Liverpool Community College in 1991, and a PGCE in secondary music education from the University of Liverpool in 1992. Having spent eight years as Head of Music at Halewood Community Comprehensive School and Arts College in Liverpool, Diane then took an MA in Psychology for Musicians at the University of Sheffield, where she investigated the role of aural skill in playing the piano by ear. This research is being developed through a PhD examining the influences of musical memory and motor skill on the ability to play the piano by ear.
