LUCOS
Leeds University Centre for Opera Studies
Formed in 2007, LUCOS draws together the School’s already well-established traditions and reputation for the study, performance, and editing of opera. The Centre is also the focus for projects arising from the University’s exciting new partnership with Opera North, England’s premier regional opera company. LUCOS fosters a research community of academics and master’s/doctoral students with interests in opera studies, including practice-led and historically informed performance activities. It is also designed to encourage collaboration with other research centres and groupings within the School (for example, PopuLUs, LUCEM) and at Faculty and University level (for example, CePRA, CIGS, and PCI). LUCOS is also active in supporting research-led teaching in the School, and developing new opportunities for students to engage with professional opera production, performance, and scholarly studies.
