The School balances musical studies of performance, composition & critical & historical studies, with developing areas such as popular music, world musics & music technology.

During the period 2001-07, researchers in the School published:

And presented:

  • 114 invited lectures/keynotes in variety of locations, including Aalborg, Barcelona, Basel, Bern, Budapest, Chicago, Cologne, Copenhagen, Delhi, Gothenburg, Helsinki, Iowa, Jyväskylä, Lausanne, Lisbon, Montreal, Pavia, Poitiers, Prague, Salzburg, Utrecht, Tampere, Tokyo, and Vienna
  • 211 conference papers by peer-reviewed proposal, including:
  • 8 papers at the Annual Meetings of the American Musicological Society
  • 5 papers at the Society of Ethnomusicology Annual Meetings
  • 2 papers at the Congress of the International Musicological Society
