BA, BMus, ARCM, FHEA
Jo Fairley started her university education at Wellesley College, Boston, Massachusetts. After a year abroad at Leeds, she was completely converted, and finished her undergraduate BA degree here, then stayed on to do a further (BMus) year. Following a brief spell restoring early keyboard instruments, she gained her ARCM diploma, and freelanced as an accompanist and teacher for many years (though these days, her keyboard time is spent at the computer rather than the piano). While teaching at the University in the 90s, she began her educational development work in the School. Since then, she’s run level 1 performance, the ensemble modules at level 2 and 3, the year abroad module, and MMus Applied Performance. She’s also been involved in various development projects in Music, the Faculty of PVAC and Arts, and chaired Student:Staff Forum for four years. She acts as departmental study abroad tutor, instrumental and vocal teaching manager, and is the programme manager for BMus. Jo represents the faculty on the Standing Group on Study Abroad and is deputy Director of Student Education in Music.
