BMus Music Performance 'Abroad' is an exciting four-year degree specialising in performance, with the third year spent in a conservatory environment abroad. Current destinations include the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic (EU subsidies are currently available for study in Europe). In addition to your performance specialisms, you will follow academic studies along with colleagues on the BA Music course. The Year Abroad is an invaluable way to improve your CV, your confidence, your career prospects and your language skills. ABRSM Grade 8 distinction or equivalent in your principal instrumental/vocal study is required at the time of application.

ABRSM Grade 8 Distinction or equivalent at the time of application. In addition to this you will also be required to achieve one of the following (or equivalent):
A level grades ABB, including A in Music (other A levels can include General Studies, but not Practical Music)
Scottish Highers: AAABB (A in Music)
BTECs: a minimum of Distinction, Distinction, Merit in a music specialism.

Aside from offering an enjoyable and fulfilling academic experience, this degree offers a natural pathway to a career as a music teacher or performer, and offers skills that will be valued by prospective employers in other fields. The study and performance of music develops independent thinking, and a range of analytical and communication skills that are highly valued in the professional world you will enter after university.
