Anjem Choudary

This means that it tolerates a wide range of views, political and academic, even when they are unpopular, controversial or provocative.

It does not mean that the right to freedom of expression is unfettered. The University's values, and those of a civilised, democratic, inclusive society, must also be protected.

To date, we have not been made aware of any booking for Mr Choudary. If we did receive such a request, we would first need to establish whether or not the meeting could be held lawfully and whether or not it could proceed without threat to public safety.
